Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Host/Hostess to join our team at the United Polaris Lounge in Newark, NJ. As a Host/Hostess, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a seamless dining experience for our guests.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Promptly and warmly greet and direct guests to their tables based on availability or desired seating arrangements.
  • Help create an overall enjoyable dining experience and promote a safe, clean, and neat environment for guests and other associates.
  • Exhibit exceptional communication skills, get along well with others, demonstrate flexibility and patience, and possess an interest in people.
  • Maintain a high level of sensitivity and confidentiality regarding personal or medical information that is shared.
  • Supervise the activities of food-service associates in the dining room to ensure proper customer service, food handling, and sanitation procedures are followed.
  • Help train new food-service team members.
  • Supervise the closing of the assigned dining room, ensuring side work and station setup is properly completed.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of emergency safety procedures and help evacuate guests to safety in the event of fire or other emergency.
  • Assist with service, including occasional bussing and food service, while maintaining safe food handling and sanitation standards.
  • May be asked to operate equipment, including but not limited to fire extinguishers, telephones, iced tea/soda machines, soup wells, and coffee machines.
  • Work with staff of other departments to perform job duties and during special events or functions.
Requirements:
  • Previous host experience is preferred.
  • Ability to work a full-time schedule, including Friday through Saturday, 10:00 am to 6:30 pm, and Sunday through Monday, 12:30 pm to 9:00 pm.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask.
  • Knowledge of emergency safety procedures.
