This role primarily entails on-site evaluation of various construction initiatives related to new developments, renovations, and utility services. Typical assignments encompass asphalt paving, curb and sidewalk installations, drainage enhancements, traffic maintenance, utility projects, and more. Evaluates infrastructure to ensure adherence to design specifications, material standards, safety protocols, construction methodologies, and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, while documenting and reporting any compliance issues or deficiencies.Designs, develops, and reviews engineering project layouts, alignments, profiles, studies, graphs, and related activities.
Compiles and maintains records of notes, sketches, test results, inspection data, and other information to document compliance and/or create designs, specifications, reports, maps, and other geographically relevant data.
Conducts various studies to assist others in analyzing needs and developing plans, recording characteristics, and engaging in other related activities.
Performs data analysis to verify the accuracy of collected data, formulate recommendations, develop corrective designs, and ensure compliance.
Tests and evaluates the quality of materials or designs to confirm adherence to contracts and specifications.
Gathers survey data, including angles, elevations, points, and contours, utilizing electronic distance measuring tools and other surveying instruments.
Calculates and measures area and volume dimensions, horizontal and vertical geometry, profile and component specifications, and material testing dimensions using calculators or computers.
Operates computer-aided drafting equipment or other relevant tools of the trade.
Reads and interprets plans, specifications, blueprints, and other engineering documentation.
Qualifications
Requirements for Engineering/Planning/Surveying Technician II
Candidates must possess education, training, and/or experience demonstrating proficiency in the following areas:Public Works:
A minimum of six months of experience in applied mathematical computations, including algebra and geometry. A minimum of six months of experience in interpreting construction plans, details, schematics, or technical drawings. Knowledge of reviewing construction plans and details, project specifications, schematics, or technical drawings to assess compliance. Familiarity with utilizing an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve, and report on data. Possession of a valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked, or canceled, or disqualified from driving).
