About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Database Reliability Engineer to join our team at Oracle. As a key member of our Engineering organization, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our cloud database services.

As a Cloud Database Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the infrastructure and processes that support our cloud database services. This includes troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues, automating operations and infrastructure management, and ensuring thorough documentation of incidents through company-standard reporting methods.

You will also be responsible for developing cross-functional relationships with key stakeholders within the company, including customer operations and product teams. Additionally, you will act as a point of escalation for incidents and other issues arising within the region, and will be responsible for deploying code and executing other changes within the region.

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of cloud concepts and platforms, as well as experience with Linux and troubleshooting complex software and/or networking issues. Responsibilities
  • Create and implement processes and solutions to resolve problems faster and provide efficient incident management.
  • Act as a point of escalation for incidents and other issues arising within the region.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the stack from networking to applications.
  • Automate operations and infrastructure management.
  • Ensures thorough documentation of incidents through company-standard reporting methods.
  • Setup alerts and create or update on-call runbooks.
  • Develop cross-functional relationships with key stakeholders within the company, including customer operations and product teams.
  • Deploys code and executes other changes within the region.
  • Operates and performs maintenance to cloud database services running within the region.
  • Act as customer champion and translate customer needs to technical requirements or enhancements to the cloud database services.
  • Drives and actively participates in the resolution of complex technical issues spanning various services.
  • Understand the end-to-end configuration, technical dependencies, and overall behavioral characteristics of production services.
  • Partner with development teams in defining and implementing improvements in service architecture.
  • Understand and communicate the scale, capacity, security, performance attributes, and requirements of the service and technology stack.
  • Utilize a deep understanding of service topology and their dependencies required to troubleshoot issues and define mitigations.
  • Professional curiosity and a desire to a develop deep understanding of services and technologies.
Requirements
  • At least a Bachelor's degree, in Computer Science, MIS or another technical field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Solid experience with Linux.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex software and/or networking issues.
  • Strong understanding of cloud concepts and platforms.
  • Experience in cloud technical support, operations, NOC or similar is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience working with government customers is preferred, but not required.
  • Proven ability to quickly learn new technical domains and then train others.
  • Great verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with Oracle databases including RAC and Data Guard preferred.
  • Experience with Oracle Exadata strongly preferred.
