Position Overview: Finance Team Lead

In the role of Finance Team Lead at LEAP, you will play a vital role within our finance team, ensuring the effective and efficient management of the organization’s financial resources to fulfill our mission. This position involves overseeing critical initiatives within the Financial Department, assigning tasks, and providing guidance to a small team of finance staff. Strong communication and time management skills, along with the ability to cultivate productive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, are essential.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

Core Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage the annual budget.
  • Oversee all Accounts Receivable, including MaineCare, donations, grants, and other income sources.
  • Reconcile monthly bank statements and investment reports.
  • Implement the organization's capitalization policy and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Prepare financial statements for review by the board of directors and department heads.
  • Organize year-end financial documentation for the annual audit.
  • Engage with the statewide Financial Managers Group to stay informed on industry standards and protocols.

Position Profile:

This is a full-time, salaried position with no direct reports, although opportunities for advancement may be available for those interested in leadership roles. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend and evening commitments.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Required: Associate degree or higher in Business/Accounting (related experience will be considered).
  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or economics.

Experience:

  • Required: A minimum of 3 years of accounting experience.
  • Preferred: 5 or more years of accounting experience within a nonprofit setting.
