Position Overview:

Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager, the Controls Engineer will play a crucial role in the design and detailing of projects according to established timelines. This role necessitates effective communication across various departments, including manufacturing, engineering, sales, and field service. In addition to project collaboration, the engineer will handle Engineering Changes and maintain part and assembly data within the ERP system.

The Controls Engineer will also provide ongoing support for PLC-based Machinery Control Systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and detail assigned projects in alignment with engineering and production requirements.
  • Submit designs for review by lead engineers or team leads prior to finalization.
  • Maintain Bill of Materials (BOM) and part information within the ERP system.
  • Ensure compliance with BCT drawing standards and SOPs.
  • Create drawings that facilitate assembly and installation processes.
  • Program PLCs and HMIs following BCT guidelines and SOPs, including shop testing.
  • Travel approximately 20% to job sites for installation support and troubleshooting.
  • Meet production release timelines with accountability.
  • Assist in documenting daily project status and release schedules.
  • Promote and support BCT's Culture and Core Values.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks Electrical or similar 2D design software.
  • Experience with Rockwell or Siemens PLC software.
  • Familiarity with Rockwell HMI software.
  • Ability to adhere to standard drawing practices.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office and project management software.

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of an associate's or bachelor's degree with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Panel design and build experience is preferred.
  • UL experience (UL508A certification is a plus).
  • Experience managing BOM and part information using an ERP system.
