Virtual Mathematics Competition Educator

Summary of Role: Art of Problem Solving is seeking a dedicated Upper-Level Mathematics Educator to become a part of our Virtual Campus team. This role is designed for part-time engagement. The AoPS Academy Virtual Campus serves as an after-school and weekend enrichment platform for students, offering courses throughout the year.
This position may be ideal for you if you:
- Possess experience in competing or instructing students in middle and high school mathematics competitions such as:
- AMC, AIME, MATHCOUNTS, USA(J)MO, IMO
- Value student-centered teaching, promoting discussions, and empowering students to take charge of their learning.
- Create an interactive classroom atmosphere that stimulates critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Are proficient in delivering lessons in a live virtual classroom setting using platforms like Zoom.
In each session, you will:
- Engage with enthusiastic middle and high school learners in our online classrooms.
- Utilize our curriculum to conduct participation-focused classes that emphasize skill development rather than rote memorization.
- Work with small groups (average size of 12) of high-achieving students who are eager to learn and driven to excel.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline is mandatory. A master's degree or higher in a STEM field is highly desirable.
- Experience in teaching or tutoring students at the middle to high school level is required.
- Preferred: Familiarity with middle and high school mathematics competitions such as AMC, AIME, MATHCOUNTS, USA(J)MO, IMO, etc.
Compensation and Benefits:
The instructor rate at the Virtual Campus is $30 per hour. The compensation structure includes flexible working hours, 15 minutes of preparation time before class, and the actual class duration.
