Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

Perform complex imaging examinations while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
Review and evaluate requisitions for diagnostic imaging procedures, abstracting data from patient charts and determining the appropriateness of procedures prescribed given diagnosis and clinical signs for routine examinations.
Identify patients according to hospital policy with 2 identifiers.
Select appropriate equipment and technical factors to identify pathologic and normal anatomy.
Assess patients' and parents' physical and emotional status and ability to respond to instructions and develop a care plan for that patient's specific needs.
Explain the examination and answer questions from patients and parents regarding the exam and radiation exposure, practicing ALARA.
Follow departmental QC/data integrity workflow.
Practice high reliability training.
Respond to the uniqueness of the patient, creating a supportive environment for the patient and the family.
Identify and report equipment malfunctions through the INeedit application.
Assist in organizing and maintaining daily operations.
Perform additional tasks as assigned by the modality manager, chief technologist, or assistant chief technologist, i.e., ordering supplies, QA/QC projects, lead inventory, etc.
Help with new departmental/hospital initiatives.
Promote positive morale, teamwork, and willingness to make a significant contribution.
Train fellows, residents, students, and staff in imaging procedures and techniques.
Act as a mentor to less experienced staff.
Participate in departmental and hospital meetings.
Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
Comply with ETU.
Comply with HIPAA regulations.

Further professional education and maintain knowledge of current regulations and standards, policies, and procedures.
Maintain up-to-date licensure/certification/registration in departmental file.

Requirements

Registered by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT).
Must meet, successfully complete, and maintain the ARRT certification.
Registered in all modalities practiced.
BLS certification.
Associates degree.
3 years of experience.
Current MA Radiologic Technologist license is required for general radiography, CT, and MRI.
