About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer II to join our team at Badger Meter. As a key member of our software development team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining our manufacturing UI and AP websites.

This is a highly impactful role that will involve working on key initiatives to redevelop our internal manufacturing websites, manufacturing data interfaces, and unit testing platforms. You will participate in one or more phases of the software development life cycle, including requirements/definition/analysis, software design/implementation, and software verification/validation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance, support, and feedback.
  • Assist in user requirements gathering and develop software products and features to enhance new or existing applications.
  • Start to lead small to mid-size projects as assigned.
  • Perform project management functions for assigned projects, including task estimation and resource allocation.
  • Assist SQA in defining test requirements and implementing the validation test plan.
  • Conduct research in software and computer technology for use in the manufacturing environment.
  • Recommend upgrades for existing systems and programs.
  • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to come up with the best solutions.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of related experience in an Engineering role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline with a strong focus and background in Mathematics, Statistics, or Analytics.
  • Advanced skill level in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
  • Experience with MS Visual Studio, C#, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, Entity Framework, SignalR, Razor, AWS, TFS, Git, GitHub, SQL queries, and SQL Server strongly preferred.
  • Knowledgeable of software development concepts, processes, and tools.
  • Demonstrates strong initiative, motivation, appropriate judgment, and decision-making.
  • Assists in defining problems and causes and applies problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong analytical skills, multitask, prioritize, and work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision, maintain open communication, and have positive working relationships with staff.
