The Float Pool RN is a vital role within the Duke Health system, offering a premium of $5.00 per hour. This position requires flexibility as it involves rotating shifts, including both day and night schedules, typically comprising three 12-hour shifts with varying weekends.

Role Responsibilities:
As a Registered Nurse in the Float Pool, you will work across various units, including Medical Surgical, Critical Care, and Pediatric departments. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, participating in patient rounds and providing comprehensive care.

Nurse-to-Patient Ratio:
The average patient ratio ranges from 1:3 to 1:6, depending on the unit's acuity. Each unit is supported by a dedicated charge nurse and Health Unit Coordinator available 24/7, with Nursing Care Assistants present during day and night shifts.

Ideal Candidate:
We seek candidates who are passionate about teamwork, demonstrate accountability, and value family-centered care. Our Float Pool staff are trained extensively in various areas, enabling them to adapt and excel in diverse patient populations.

Core Duties:
- Conduct thorough assessments and develop individualized care plans.
- Document interventions and evaluate patient status regularly.
- Educate patients and families regarding care plans and health management.
- Collaborate effectively with healthcare teams, physicians, and administrative staff.

Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program (Bachelor's, Associate's, or Diploma).
- Current registration with the North Carolina State Board of Nursing or compact RN licensure.
- For RNs without a Bachelor's degree, enrollment in a BSN program is required within two years of hire.

Training and Development:
- Comprehensive paid training, averaging 4 weeks for experienced RNs and 14 weeks for new graduates, tailored to individual experience levels.
- Ongoing learning opportunities through the Office of Continuing Education.
