About the Role
The Delaware Department of Justice is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Attorney General to join its Health Law Unit (HLU), Civil Division. As a key member of the HLU team, you will provide general counsel duties for the Division for the Visually Impaired, represent the Division of Medicaid and Medical Assistance in matters of estate recovery and financial eligibility, handle Adult Abuse Registry Hearings for the Division of Health Care Quality, and serve as a representative for the Delaware Drug Overdose Fatality Review Commission.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and representation to the Division for the Visually Impaired, Division of Medicaid and Medical Assistance, and other state agencies.
- Handle Adult Abuse Registry Hearings for the Division of Health Care Quality.
- Represent the State of Delaware in Civil Commitment Hearings, Weapons Relinquishment, and Lethal Violence Protection hearings.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the State Solicitor, Deputy State Solicitor, Unit Head, or Assistant Unit Head.
Requirements
- Membership in the Delaware Bar is required.
- Proficiency in health law and prior litigation and general counsel experience are highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Thorough knowledge of relevant laws and court rules.
