About the Role

At Blue Origin, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As a Senior Fluids Valve Design Engineer, you'll play a critical role in designing and developing the next generation of cryogenic valves for our Lunar program.

This is a unique opportunity to join a talented team of engineers and contribute to the development of sustainable infrastructure for space travel. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to design, analyze, and test fluids and propulsion subsystems on our Lunar landers.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop cryogenic valves for our Lunar program, ensuring they meet the required performance and safety standards.
  • Perform 1st order analyses to verify valve designs and complete trade studies to quantify valve design options.
  • Lead small teams in the design, testing, and analysis of valves, providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to identify and procure components, and work with support organizations to procure, fabricate, and install flight hardware.
  • Provide day-to-day tasking, support, and mentorship to entry-level engineers.
  • Perform technical peer reviews of products and ensure compliance with ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerance.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in valve and/or mechanical/fluids component design.
  • Knowledge of propulsion and fluid system components, including valves, regulators, and pumps for cryogenics, propellants, and other fluids.
  • Experience designing parts in CREO and using design analysis tools such as ANSYS and Thermal Desktop.
  • Background in GD&T to create manufacturable, high-performing component drawings.
  • Ability to define and support testing of designs, conduct data analysis, and iterate designs.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of collaboration and inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Engineering degree.
  • Experience designing valves/mechanisms for fluids systems.
  • Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerance.
What We Offer

Blue Origin offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $136,467.00-$191,053.80, depending on location. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability, 401(k) with a company match of up to 5%, and an Education Support Program.

Paid Time Off: Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays. Discretionary bonus: Bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
