Director of Finance & Accounting

In a commercial general contracting and construction environment, accurate accounting and data collection are crucial. We seek a skilled Finance & Accounting leader who enjoys finding and sharing insights, helping others understand numbers, and developing controls for improved operations.

The Director will oversee all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, reporting, and budget and forecast preparation. They will review and develop internal control policies and procedures and perform financial risk management. Additionally, we look to them to lead and develop the team technically and professionally.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and organize the company's accounting operations, including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cost accounting, financial planning and analysis, revenue recognition, and general ledger.
  • Review existing technical accounting issues and develop measures to optimize them.
  • Create and document business processes and accounting policies to improve internal controls.
  • Manage the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and prepare reports on the results.
  • Oversee the company's month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Perform quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  • Oversee the preparation of regulatory reporting.
  • Create timely monthly financial statements and present them to the company's executives and top managers.
  • Ensure compliance with state reporting requirements, applicable laws, and tax filings.
Candidate Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience working in a General Contractor or Construction Contractor firm.
  • 3+ years of experience working as a Financial Controller position.
  • Sound experience and knowledge of accounting procedures and principles.
  • Significant experience with general ledger functions, the month-end/year-end close process, and financial statements management.
  • Good knowledge of accounting software – selection and implementation.
  • Strong mathematical and administration skills.
  • Professional certification such as CPA or CMA desirable.
  • Degree in Accounting or Finance.
Compensation & Benefits

The Finance Controller position is a full-time W2 position with a salary up to $185,000. Our benefits and wellness package is robust and includes paid vacation, self-development opportunities, a retirement plan, and participation in the management bonus program.
