About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Patent Analyst with expertise in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Biotechnology to support our contract with the US Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO). As a remote independent contractor, you will be responsible for performing comprehensive searches and written opinions on patentability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough searches of patent databases and technical publications to identify relevant prior art
  • Prepare written opinions applying prior art to patent disclosures
  • Maintain proficiency with commercial patent searching databases and proprietary databases of technical publications
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices and changes to search procedures
  • Ensure compliance with Clarivate's Code of Business Ethics and Corporate Conduct
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or related field
  • 1+ year of experience working with patents or in the intellectual property field
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
  • Strong time management skills and ability to complete projects against deadlines
  • Experience with Orbit, PatBase, Google Scholar, or PatSeer
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous patent examining/patent searching experience
  • Master's degree or PhD in a related field
