Job Summary

The Clinical Nutrition Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the nutrition support service process within the Clinical Nutrition Department. This role involves supervising the nutrition support service team processes and adult care dietitians, ensuring accurate documentation for quality initiatives such as malnutrition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise the nutrition support service team processes and adult care dietitians, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Provide patient nutrition care, conducting thorough assessments and developing personalized nutrition plans.
  • Train adult care dietitians on accurate documentation of malnutrition, ensuring quality measures are met for reimbursement.
  • Serve as an expert resource on clinical nutrition topics, providing information to dietitians and other disciplines.
  • Prepare schedules for adult care dietitians to accommodate nutrition support and patient care needs.
  • Participate in quality patient care committees as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Manager of Clinical Nutrition & Informatics on team member performance.
  • Conduct nutrition support research to inform best practices.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

  • This role has direct and/or indirect supervision of team members, including final budget authority, hire/termination authority, performance appraisal responsibility, and disciplinary authority.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree from an Academy of Dietetics (AND) accredited institution and/or approved internship program.
  • Minimum Experience: 1 year Clinical Nutrition experience in Inpatient/Outpatient Care.

Certifications/Registrations/Licenses

  • Commission on Dietetic Registration certified RD/RDN.
  • South Carolina Dietetic Licensure.
  • Certified Nutrition Support Dietitian (CNSC) preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities

  • Maintain 75 hours of continuing education every 5 years.
  • Knowledge of AND, Joint Commission, department of Health and Environmental Control, and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
  • Computer knowledge and skills.
