Job Summary

The Registered Nurse in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is responsible for providing high-quality patient care to critically ill newborns and their families. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will work closely with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans that meet the unique needs of each patient.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate patients and assist physicians with patient care, including planning, implementing, and documenting nursing care based on patient needs.
  • Identify patient needs and determine priorities for care through assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate individualized plans of care for patients assigned through initial and ongoing assessments.
  • Initiate assessments based on patient problems or needs, physician medical diagnoses, and functional health frameworks.
  • Perform therapeutic nursing interventions, manage patient care, and document care based on standards of care and practice, patient acuity, and clinical priorities.
  • Advocate for evidence-based practice care standards and support the adoption of evidence-based practices and innovations in care delivery.
  • Provide patient-centered care in alignment with professional nursing practice models.
Requirements
  • 1+ year of experience in a related specialty.
  • Level II experience, STRONG IV skills (no IR team), bedside UA, UV, and chest tube insertion, managing CPAP (respiratory shared with hospital), tube feeding (NG/OG), universal transfers, and Epic experience.
  • Preferred: Level III experience, baby catching (attending deliveries as nursery nurse).
Education and Certifications
  • ASN required.
  • BSN preferred.
  • BLS and NRP (AHA only) certifications required.
  • NJ State Professional Registered Nurse license or multistate compact license required.
Work Environment

This is a 13-week assignment with 36 hours per week, including 4 weekend shifts per month. No on-call, float, or holiday requirements.
