Job Summary:
The Medical Unit Coordinator plays a vital role in facilitating and communicating unit processes in coordination with the healthcare team. This position requires a high level of organization and critical thinking skills to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform a variety of clerical and administrative duties, including greeting and directing patients, families, and visitors.
- Accurately transcribe physician orders and schedule tests, procedures, and appointments.
- Enter charges, order supplies, and perform other duties as assigned.
- Coordinate patient admissions, discharges, and transfers in conjunction with the Director, Charge Nurse, and Admitting Department.
- Collect and input data for the unit census decision support system.
Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Previous computer experience and basic computer skills.
- Experience dealing with the public and medical terminology certificate preferred.
Essential Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and maintain a positive attitude in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to establish effective relationships with patients, families, and healthcare staff.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to take direction, work independently, and demonstrate flexibility and adaptability.
Compensation and Benefits:
The Medical Unit Coordinator is a full-time position with a competitive salary range of $26.65 per hour. Pay grade 16. Compensation may vary based on experience, qualifications, shift, and location.
