Position Overview

The CT/X-Ray Technologist plays a crucial role in the Medical Imaging department, ensuring the smooth operation of daily clinical, technical, and administrative tasks. This position requires collaboration with supervisory staff to coordinate activities across all CT departments, focusing on maintaining optimal patient flow and adequate staffing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the effective use of technical, physical, and human resources within the CT department.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards in patient care for all age demographics, from neonates to seniors.
  • Engage in performance improvement initiatives and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
  • Conduct diagnostic x-ray procedures as part of routine responsibilities.

Collaboration and Compliance

The CT/X-Ray Technologist works closely with Imaging Supervisors and lead technologists, receiving ongoing guidance from imaging leadership and physicians. This role involves participation in all CT-related activities, ensuring compliance with established policies, procedures, and protocols.

Operational Excellence

Maintaining efficient department operations is essential, alongside compliance with all regulatory standards set forth by the Joint Commission and other governing bodies. The technologist must demonstrate critical thinking skills and a thorough understanding of human anatomy, disease processes, and radiographic principles.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, along with graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
  • Current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in good standing, with board certification in a specialty.
  • ARRT (R) and ARRT (CT) certifications required upon hire.
  • Experience in performing diagnostic x-ray procedures is necessary.
  • Preferred: At least one year of experience as a CT technologist in an acute care setting.
  • BCLS certification is required within 90 days of hire, with ongoing maintenance as a condition of employment.
  • ACLS certification is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and adaptability to interact effectively with patients and healthcare team members.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs to assist and move patients.
  • Proficiency in computer operations for data input and retrieval.
