Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Field Accountant to join our team at Asplundh. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for contributing to and supporting the field accounting team dedicated to the Asplundh Infrastructure Group (AIG) segment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in field accounting activities related to the month-end financial close, including the processing of monthly WIP write-offs and associated adjustment journals.
  • Support key project initiatives focused on streamlining and systematizing the gathering of production data to support accurate and timely accruals.
  • Identify, communicate, and realize financial close efficiencies to drive the organization to a faster and more streamlined, accurate financial close process.
  • Responsible for the bulk of journal entries prepared within the department, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Handle other responsibilities as needed, such as project/system implementation support within the corporate function and field operations.

Requirements:

  • BS in Accounting (or similar degree) and CPA preferred, but not required.
  • At least 1-2 years of field/project accounting and operations experience, preferably within the infrastructure/construction industries.
  • Preferred experience working directly with highly decentralized field operations that span a wide variety of business lines.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Teachable attitude and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to contribute creatively to a vision of what could be, not just focused on what is/has been.
  • Ability to execute tasks within a project plan on time and at a high level of quality.
  • Experience using modern ERP's such as SAP or Oracle is preferred.
  • Good social skills in dealing with internal personnel, auditors, etc.

As a full-service utility contractor, Asplundh performs tree pruning and removals, right-of-way clearing and maintenance, vegetation management with herbicides, and emergency storm work and logistical support. Asplundh is the parent company of Asplundh Infrastructure Group whose subsidiaries provide overhead and underground line construction, planning and design, meter reading and AMR/AMI installation, electrical testing, and street lighting/traffic signal services. Asplundh also operates Rotor Blade Airborne Utilities Management, overhead electric distribution, and transmission lines using MD 500 helicopters.
