Job Summary

AvaMed Workforce is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to provide mental health services to inmates at a correctional facility in California.

Key Responsibilities
  • Consult with supervisors, treatment teams, and CDCR health care personnel to develop and implement mental health treatment plans.
  • Document all care provided to inmates, including face-to-face contacts and Interdisciplinary Treatment Team meetings.
  • Monitor inmate progress using CDCR Mental Health approved documentation formatting for progress notes.
  • Apply community standards of practice for non-medical treatment modalities and ethical standards.
  • Perform mental status exams and conduct face-to-face clinical interviews.
  • Examine prior mental health records, institutional charts, probation reports, court records, and other available documents to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Conduct mental health education and develop resources for mentally ill and sex offender patients.
  • Assist patients in applying for entitlement benefits, community programs, and services.
  • Facilitate patient transitions between various settings within the institution.
  • Perform pre-release functions, including patient education and transition to county mental health and community mental health treatment programs.
  • Participate in IDTT meetings and compile data from audits pertaining to mental health program requirements.
  • Provide written reports and consult with the Board of Prison Hearings and other CDCR staff.
  • Develop therapeutic relationships with patients, families, and caregivers to enhance effective treatment delivery.
  • Represent the Department at formal and informal settings regarding mental health matters.
  • Protect and maintain safety and security of property, including documentation of unusual occurrences and inventory control of psychological testing materials.
  • Maintain order and supervise the conduct of persons committed to the correctional facility to prevent escapes or injury.
Requirements
  • Must have a Psychologist license by the California State Board of Psychology.
