About the Role

We are seeking a skilled RTU/Meter Technician to join our substation team at East River Electric Power Cooperative, Inc. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the functionality of our monitoring systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installation and Maintenance: Perform installation, maintenance, modification to, and testing of SCADA control, fiber, revenue metering, and RTU circuitry.
  • Electrical Check-out and Functionality: Perform the electrical check-out and functionality of substation equipment, control circuits, and ancillary equipment.
  • Assistance with Installation and Testing: Assist with the installation, check-out, and functionality testing of substation equipment, relays, control circuits, and ancillary equipment.
  • Power Quality Studies and Testing: Assist with power quality studies and testing for East River's transmission system and our members' distribution systems.
  • Equipment Sampling and Analysis: Assist with or perform collection of equipment samples for screening and gas analysis.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain proper documentation, reports, and other records as required.
  • Safety and Compliance: Participate in safety meetings and contribute to our safety culture.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: An associate degree in electrical construction, automation controls, substation, telecommunications, or powerline with a minimum of two years of related experience preferred.
  • Commercial Driver's License: A Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL), or the ability to obtain a CDL.
  • Technical Skills: Demonstrated commitment to job performance and attention to detail, showing motivation to grow technical job skills and providing additional benefit to the Cooperative.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Demonstrated respect for others and a commitment to effective communication. The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Computer Technology: Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office products and computer technology.
