**Job Summary**

Vets Hired is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Director of Parks and Recreation to lead our operations team. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, directing, and evaluating of activities, programs, and operations of the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • **Strategic Planning**: Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
  • **Program Management**: Oversee the planning, development, and implementation of programs and services, including budgeting and resource allocation.
  • **Staff Supervision**: Manage and supervise a team of staff, including training, evaluation, and development.
  • **Budget Management**: Assist in the development and administration of the department's operating and capital improvement budgets.
  • **Community Engagement**: Represent the department at community events and meetings, and engage with stakeholders to build relationships and promote departmental programs.
  • **Policy Development**: Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure effective and efficient operations.
Requirements

**Education and Experience**

We are seeking a candidate with a Bachelor's degree in Parks and Recreation Administration, Landscape Architecture, Natural Resources Management, Public or Business Administration, or a related field, and four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative/management experience in a significant parks and recreation department within a large comparable agency.

**Knowledge and Abilities**

The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of organizational, management, and strategic planning practices, as well as contemporary trends and best practices related to parks and recreation operations, design, and services.

They will also have the ability to plan, organize, and direct a comprehensive program, maintain discretion, honesty, and integrity, and provide vision and set operational goals to achieve that vision.
