Call Schedule: 24-hour calls; 7 days a week

Shifts Available:

  • End of January
  • Mid-March
  • Ongoing opportunities

Patient Population:
Nursery/Pediatric

  • Newly admitted nursery patients must be evaluated within 18 hours of birth.
  • Pediatric patients should be assessed within 12 hours of admission.

Admissions:
Before 4 PM

  • Up to 4 pediatric patients daily
  • Up to 7 Newborn/Nursery patients

Daily Rounding:
Yes; Required

Essential Procedures:
Pediatric Resuscitation and Intubation.

Responsibilities:
The pediatric hospitalist will oversee the care of children admitted through the emergency department or by direct admission.

Trauma Designation:
II

  • EMR System: Cerner Care B

Additional Information:

  • The facility does not operate a PICU; Neonatologists cover the NICU.
  • Emergency Codes are managed by Emergency Medicine physicians.
  • Travel, accommodation, and malpractice insurance are provided.

Qualifications:

  • Active California Medical License
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible (Pediatrics)

If Board Eligible:
Must achieve certification within 3 years post-residency.

  • California DEA
  • PALS Certification
  • Clean professional record
  • Proof of COVID Vaccination
  • Availability to cover required shifts.
  • Active staff membership at a TJC-accredited facility, without privilege restrictions.
  • Must be paneled with California Children's Services (CCS).
  • Experience in resident teaching/precepting is required.
