Job Title: Research Associate

Kopernik Global Investors, LLC is a leading investment management firm that provides global equity investment management services to individual and institutional investors. We are seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to support our Research Analysts in investment research and analysis.

Job Summary

The Research Associate will work closely with our Research Analysts to conduct investment research and analysis, create and maintain financial models, and collect and analyze industry and company data. The ideal candidate will have a strong analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.

Responsibilities
  • Assist Research Analysts in conducting investment research and analysis
  • Create and maintain financial models, including company and industry/sector models
  • Collect and analyze industry and company data from various sources, including sell-side research firms, internal databases, trade publications, and regulatory filings
  • Review and organize data, synthesize information, and help Research Analysts analyze and interpret company and industry data
  • Assist Research Analysts with the annual update of the Company Report
  • Stay up-to-date on key company news, industry trends, and regulatory issues and inform Research Analysts accordingly
  • Prepare internal presentations and files research-related documents
  • May work with investment analysts to write Company Reports, prepare research whitepapers, and prepare background pieces for investment reports
  • May draft investment notes or publish own writing
  • Work on special research projects as needed to support Research Analysts
  • Attend company-sponsored events, including Research Offsite, annual Company Offsite, conferences, and seminars
  • May attend broker and company meetings as needed
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
  • Demonstrate intellectual curiosity and analytical skills
  • Demonstrate sound judgment in resolving complex matters
  • Demonstrate initiative by identifying issues and recommending solutions on complex and broad matters
  • Demonstrate ability to influence groups and/or more senior members of the research team
  • Demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrate ability to collaborate and develop/maintain relationships inside and outside the firm to enable effective completion of business objectives
  • Work well under pressure and demonstrate ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Take ownership of work, ensuring standards and deadlines are met and keeping others informed and up to date
  • Demonstrate ability to contribute to a team-based environment
  • Demonstrate excellent attention to detail
  • BA/BS degree; coursework in Economics, Accounting, Finance is preferred
  • No prior work experience is required but past internships and professional references are preferred
  • Active pursuit of CFA designation is preferred
  • Two-year program is temporary and does not lead to a permanent position
  • Reports directly to DOR
Additional Requirements
  • This is not a remote position and will require relocation if not already local to the Tampa, FL area
  • Being authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship is a precondition of employment
