Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Interventional Radiology Technologist to join our team at the Detroit Medical Center. As a key member of our radiology department, you will be responsible for coordinating the flow of work, delegating tasks, and guiding staff in carrying out their duties. Your expertise in angiography procedures and ability to work effectively in a complex environment will be invaluable to our team.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the flow of work and delegate tasks to ensure efficient operation of the radiology department.
  • Guide staff in carrying out their duties and provide input for performance appraisals, hiring decisions, and progressive disciplines.
  • Monitor the quantity and quality of work flow to ensure work is completed to the highest standards.
  • Ensure that prescribed diagnostic procedures are performed according to department standards.
  • Assist with monitoring performance improvement plans and provide recommendations for personnel actions.
  • Take call/standby as required by the department.
Requirements
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiology (RT) or Vascular-Interventional Radiography (VI) or Cardiovascular-Interventional (CV).
  • Required to have or successfully complete American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BLS) training by end of orientation period.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (ACLS) within 6 months of hire for employees working in adult setting or Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification (PALS) within 1 year of hire for employees working in a cardiology setting.
  • Two or more years progressively more responsible Interventional Radiology work experience.
Skills Required
  • Analytical and clinical skills necessary to determine the most age-appropriate method of providing requested radiographs specific to patient's physical ability and/or limitations.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to deal effectively with and instruct patients who may be under physical/emotional stress.
  • Technical knowledge necessary to operate equipment including but not limited to all specialized equipment and computers.
  • Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities.
  • Knowledge and understanding of American College of Radiology requirements for accreditation.
