Job Summary

The Gateway Region YMCA is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Senior Child Care Teacher to join our team. As a key member of our early childhood education program, you will be responsible for implementing curriculum, nurturing children, and supervising classroom activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Implementation: Develop and implement curriculum within established guidelines to promote children's cognitive, social, and emotional growth.
  • Child Nurturing: Provide purposeful programming to build achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families.
  • Classroom Supervision: Supervise children, classroom, and all activities, including ADA accommodations, and follow all procedures and standards.
  • Observation and Documentation: Conduct ongoing, systematic observations of individual children and complete Developmental Portfolios.
  • Parent Communication: Cultivate positive relationships with parents, conduct conferences, and maintain effective communication.
  • Program Site Maintenance: Maintain program site and equipment, and ensure confidentiality of family, children, and staff information.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor Assistant Teachers and Teachers, and assist with administrative duties.
  • Professional Development: Attend and participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must hold Bachelor's Degree
  • Must meet MOA or NAEYC Educational standards of a minimum of 9 credit hours in early childhood education courses or equivalent
  • Possess at least 3 years of experience in child care
  • Ability to relate to children, families, branch staff members, and volunteers
