Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team at the University of Florida's Student Health Care Center (SHCC). As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to our students, faculty, and staff.

Job Summary:

The LPN will work under the supervision of registered nurses (RNs) to ensure seamless patient flow and maintain high standards of care across all aspects of the healthcare process. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing patient care and treatment, including administering medications and performing procedures
  • Collecting and documenting vital signs and conducting visual acuity tests
  • Performing Point-of-Care testing as directed by healthcare providers
  • Facilitating patient flow in a timely and efficient manner
  • Working collaboratively with the healthcare team to provide comprehensive care
Responsibilities and Duties:

The LPN will be responsible for:

  • Providing patient education and counseling on health and wellness
  • Coordinating care for specialized patient populations, including transgender, eating disorders, obesity, anxiety, and depression
  • Managing inventory levels of medications and medical supplies
  • Ensuring that medical equipment is functioning properly
  • Providing professional nursing coverage to other SHCC clinics as assigned
Requirements:

To be considered for this role, you must:

  • Be licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes
  • Have current CPR certification
  • Have at least two years of experience in a healthcare setting
  • Have knowledge of electronic medical records (EMRs) and Microsoft programs
  • Be skilled in administering intramuscular, subcutaneous, and intradermal injections, as well as starting, monitoring, and administering IV fluids and medications
