Job Overview

Position Title: Retail Store Manager II

Base Salary: $48,099.45

Compensation: Additional compensation may be provided based on relevant experience.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Retail Store Manager II is accountable for the successful operation of a Goodwill retail outlet, adhering to the organization's policies and standards. Responsibilities include managing the processing of donations for resale or salvage, effective staff leadership, and achieving sales and production targets. The Retail Store Manager II exemplifies a positive demeanor, outstanding customer service, and team collaboration while promoting Goodwill's mission and vision within the community.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Store Management

  • Oversees the retail store operations focused on the resale of donated items, ensuring sales and production objectives are met while managing expenses.
  • Monitors daily production targets, ensuring timely placement of products on the sales floor; conducts regular audits.
  • Evaluates and prices household goods and furniture to maximize financial returns; promptly reports donation shortages and collaborates for timely deliveries.
  • Ensures compliance with pricing and grading standards for all merchandise.
  • Manages the salvaging process in accordance with established guidelines; collaborates with the Recycling Center for pickups.
  • Maintains merchandising standards through effective inventory classification and display.
  • Creates seasonal displays to enhance store image and drive sales.
  • Handles cash reconciliation and maintains accurate operating records; prepares daily transaction reports for accounting purposes.
  • Actively participates in risk management by reporting security concerns.
  • Addresses customer inquiries and complaints, ensuring fair and efficient service by store personnel.
  • Maintains consistent communication with the Sales Director.

Team Leadership

  • Responsible for comprehensive staff management, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Develops work schedules and assigns tasks to optimize operational efficiency.
  • Processes payroll accurately and timely, ensuring employee time records are maintained.
  • Ensures a safe working environment; investigates incidents and documents findings per policy.
  • Conducts regular staff meetings to encourage communication and feedback.
  • Performs additional duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of two years of retail or management experience at an Assistant Manager level or higher is required.
  • Higher education may substitute for experience.

CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and meet insurance requirements.

SUPERVISORY SCOPE:

  • Reports directly to the Sales Director.
  • Supervises a team of 8-12 full and part-time retail staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform essential duties effectively. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficient in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a knack for conflict resolution.
  • Ability to create appealing merchandise displays and understand marketing principles.
  • Competence in basic math for calculating discounts and other financial figures.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and frequently lift or carry items weighing up to 25 pounds. The role may require standing for extended periods, walking, reaching, climbing, and other physical activities.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Employees may encounter moving mechanical parts, humid conditions, and moderate noise levels.
