Role Summary

The Security Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety of both patients and staff across all Ocean Health locations. Reporting directly to the VP of Operations, this position is integral to maintaining a secure environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely opening of facilities each day.
  • Assist with front desk operations and patient interactions, as well as manage OHI vehicles.
  • Identify and report any safety or maintenance issues.
  • Communicate effectively with the Security Team via two-way radio.
  • Monitor and report on traffic and weather conditions that may affect operations.
  • Maintain safe walkways by managing snow removal and salting as necessary.
  • Facilitate patient check-ins using the electronic medical records system when required.
  • Observe and manage potentially aggressive patients as directed.
  • Support law enforcement when needed.
  • Document incidents involving patients and staff, maintaining a detailed log.
  • Investigate vandalism and coordinate with police on reports.
  • Assist repair vendors with access to necessary areas.
  • Ensure proper disposal of sharps containers in designated locations.
  • Participate in community outreach events, ensuring safety and crowd control.
  • Prepare daily activity reports.
  • Manage inventory and distribution of laptops to healthcare providers.
  • Secure all access points at practice locations.
  • Conduct regular patrols of parking areas, documenting compliance with parking regulations.
  • Ensure a safe environment for all staff and patients.
  • Provide courier services for essential documents and supplies.
  • In the absence of cleaning staff, manage waste disposal appropriately.
  • Monitor alarm systems and respond to alerts outside of regular hours.
  • Assist with office furniture relocation as requested.
  • Operate all OHI vehicles in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Work with the practice director to ensure secure and timely cash handling.
  • Inspect shuttle vans for cleanliness, fuel levels, and operational status, reporting any issues.
  • Strive for excellence in all operational aspects of the department.
  • Adhere to corporate compliance standards.
  • Complete all required training and attend necessary meetings promptly.
  • Maintain performance metrics at a satisfactory level.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • Associate's Degree is preferred.
  • SORA Certification is required.
  • Experience as a security officer in a healthcare environment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 is advantageous.
  • A valid driver's license is essential.
