Position Overview:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Acute Care setting is responsible for delivering patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role is crucial in ensuring both the physical and emotional well-being of patients and their families.

The LPN collaborates with the healthcare team to provide direct patient care and performs various tasks to enhance patient support. The scope of practice for LPNs, as defined by the New York State Education Department, guides the responsibilities that the LPN may undertake.

Compensation:

Pay Range: $27.43 - $35.34

_*This pay range indicates the minimum and maximum compensation for this position. Individual salaries will be determined based on various factors including market data, education, experience, qualifications, and internal equity considerations._

Level II Responsibilities:

In addition to Level I duties, the LPN II will provide mentorship to new hires, including Patient Care Technicians (PCT) and LPN orientees, upon successful completion of the Ancillary Preceptor Course. The LPN II is also required to complete annual training on preceptor enrichment and gerontology, earning continuing education credits.

Qualifications:

Education: Must meet the educational requirements for licensure as an LPN in New York State and hold a valid LPN license.

Experience:

  • Level II: A minimum of 1 year of experience as an LPN in an acute care hospital or 2 years in long-term care is required.
  • Current CPR certification (American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers or American Red Cross BLS) is required upon hire. For CPR renewal, only American Heart Association BLS is accepted.
