A Systems Engineer, often referred to as a lead systems analyst or a network engineer with programming capabilities, is a professional who supervises the development of integrated software, web, and hardware solutions from initial concepts through to deployment and ongoing support.

These solutions typically encompass complex systems that operate online. The systems engineer plays a crucial role in merging various network operating systems, application software, and hardware components.


Key Responsibilities

Duties of a systems engineer generally involve overseeing the entire development lifecycle associated with creating robust software, hardware, and web applications, which includes:

  • Specification
  • Design
  • Coding
  • Testing
  • Maintenance

Systems engineering is akin to assembling a puzzle, where different elements must be combined to form a unified whole. Systems engineers focus on the overarching vision of a project while also addressing technical details, such as budget constraints, timelines, and potential social implications related to the project.

Job Requirements

Education:
Bachelor's level degree in an Engineering discipline.

Experience:
