About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused Retail Associate to join our team at the University of Southern California Bookstore. As a Retail Associate, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, maintaining a high level of product knowledge, and contributing to a positive and inclusive store environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide outstanding customer service to students, faculty, staff, and external customers, ensuring a positive and memorable experience.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of products, including merchandise, promotions, and services, to effectively assist customers and meet sales goals.
  • Operate a cash register, process transactions, and handle customer payments in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Restock shelves, maintain a clean and organized store environment, and ensure a visually appealing display of merchandise.
  • Assist with visual merchandising, including setting up displays and maintaining a consistent store appearance.
  • Participate in sales promotions, events, and activities to drive sales and engage customers.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve sales goals, share knowledge, and support a positive team dynamic.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management to support the success of the store.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous retail experience preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong focus on customer service.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and adapt to changing situations.
  • Basic math skills and accuracy with handling cash and operating a cash register.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods.
