About the Position

Harper College is seeking a highly qualified Earth Science Professor to join our Physical Science Department. As a faculty member, you will be responsible for teaching a wide range of introductory courses in geology and earth science to students of diverse backgrounds and varying levels of college readiness.

Responsibilities
  • Teach a standard load of 15 credit hours per semester, consisting chiefly of earth science and geology courses.
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that incorporate traditional and alternative delivery methods.
  • Manage a world-class collection of geological samples, comprising over 8,000 specimens.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enrich the intellectual, cultural, and economic fabric of our district.
  • Participate in departmental and divisional initiatives, and serve on college committees as needed.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in geology, geosciences, or earth sciences, or a related field with at least 18 graduate credit hours in geology, geoscience, or earth science.
  • Experience teaching lab classes at the introductory level.
  • Experience managing a collection of geological samples.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree or higher in geology or a related field.
  • Experience with collection management.
