About the Position

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Earth Science Professor to join our faculty at Harper College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a variety of introductory courses in Earth Science and Geology, including lab classes, and will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of our curriculum.

Responsibilities
  • Teach a standard load of 15 credit hours per semester, consisting of Earth Science and Geology courses
  • Develop and implement engaging and effective teaching methods to meet the needs of students with diverse backgrounds and learning styles
  • Contribute to the development of our curriculum and assessment processes
  • Participate in departmental and college-wide initiatives to promote student success and diversity, equity, and inclusion
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Geology, Geosciences, or Earth Sciences, or a related field with at least 18 graduate credit hours in Geology, Geoscience, or Earth Science
  • Experience teaching lab classes at the introductory level
  • Experience managing a collection of geological samples
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree or higher in Geology or a related field
  • Experience with collection management and instructional technology
