Job Summary
Amentum is seeking a highly skilled Senior Linux Systems Administrator to support our IT Managed Services program in a dynamic and challenging environment. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing expert-level support for our Linux infrastructure, ensuring the stability, security, and performance of our systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform Linux administration duties, including system installation, configuration, and maintenance.
- Install and patch Linux operating systems, ensuring compliance with security and regulatory requirements.
- Assist customers with the installation and updates of applications, providing technical guidance and support.
- Install software and troubleshoot software installation issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum productivity.
- Monitor systems and perform hardware troubleshooting, tracking, resolution, and routine maintenance and security updates.
- Perform system backups and provide data recovery, ensuring business continuity and minimizing data loss.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, and 2 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with Linux (RedHat or Ubuntu) and ability to install, configure, and manage Linux systems.
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to research and solve complex issues independently.
- Working knowledge and experience with bash shell scripting and other languages (Python, Perl, or Ruby).
- Experience with Ansible and Ansible playbook creation.
- Ability to work seamlessly within a team as an active contributor.
- Strong verbal and written customer service and communications skills.
- Knowledge of, and desire to follow IT Operations best practices and procedures, such as issue management and incident response.
- Familiar with information security best practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience writing documentation for internal processes and customer-facing products and services.
