Job Summary

The Kentucky Medication Aide plays a vital role in our long-term care facility, working under the supervision of the charge nurse to administer medications, apply topical ointments, and dispense drops to residents. This position requires a strong understanding of medication administration and a commitment to providing excellent resident care.

Responsibilities
  • Administer oral medications, apply topical ointments, and dispense drops to residents
  • Maintain accurate and timely records reflecting resident conditions, medications, and treatments
  • Reorder medications as directed and communicate care plans to residents, families, and healthcare teams
  • Provide excellent resident care assistance with activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, incontinence care, transferring/mobility, and feeding
  • Participate in the lives of residents, enhancing their well-being and reflecting our warm, caring, safe, and dignified environment
Requirements
  • Certified Kentucky Medication Aide (KMA) certification
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA/SRNA) certification
  • Ability to lift or move residents and objects weighing over 100 pounds
  • Ability to push or pull wheelchairs or beds weighing in excess of 200 pounds
  • Ability to bend, stop, and reach to assist with dressing, tying shoes, bathing residents
  • Ability to balance while reaching and stretching to obtain items off shelves or across beds
  • Visual and hearing acuity essential
  • Ability to work in a well-lit or dimly-lit, tempered room
