Lead Energy Solutions Engineer

Russell Tobin is seeking a Lead Energy Solutions Engineer to join our team. This role is with a prominent cleantech integrator and renewable energy asset developer. This is a remote position, allowing flexibility while contributing to impactful projects.
Position Type: Permanent
Compensation: Competitive salary range of $150k-$165k plus bonus opportunities.
Role Summary:The selected candidate will be responsible for spearheading the development and execution of energy efficiency and distributed energy initiatives. This position will primarily serve the Western US region and may require occasional travel.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct site visits to assess and collect energy performance data from existing mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and control systems.
- Identify and propose enhancements for energy efficiency and the integration of distributed energy resources, including solar PV and battery storage systems.
- Prepare initial cost assessments for project execution, covering engineering, equipment, construction, project management, and maintenance costs.
- Assist in creating detailed engineering designs and bid documents, including scopes of work, drawings, and specifications.
- Evaluate bids from construction subcontractors and equipment vendors to ensure optimal value based on performance, pricing, and warranty considerations.
- Draft technical proposals and reports to communicate project details effectively.
- Collaborate with team members to develop strategies for project commissioning and measurement and verification of energy savings.
- Ensure project scopes meet energy performance metrics, customer expectations, and industry standards.
- Provide engineering support throughout all project phases, from proposal to operation.
- Foster and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, subcontractors, and clients.
- Coordinate with project managers and subcontractors to ensure seamless communication and project updates.
- Oversee quality control during the construction phase to ensure adherence to design specifications and timelines.
- Prepare reports detailing project progress, challenges, and solutions.
- Manage project changes and interventions to meet objectives.
- Conduct evaluations and assessments of project outcomes.
- Perform additional duties as necessary.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in engineering or project development.
- Ability to handle confidential US security information.
- Valid driver's license in good standing.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) License.
- Experience in leading large-scale Federal energy savings performance contracts and utility energy service contracts.
- Strong understanding of energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Familiarity with measurement and verification procedures.
- Experience with energy modeling software.
- Progress towards Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification.
