PreOp/PACU RN Job Description

Cascade Spine Center is seeking a skilled PreOp/PACU RN to provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality patient care according to established standards, considering patient age and risk factors.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using the nursing process.
  • Follow policies, procedures, and accepted standards for pre- and post-operative nursing care.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate pre- and post-operative nursing care for patients based on individual needs and physician orders.
  • Organize and prepare medical records, document care, and follow up on missing data and patient care needs.
  • Maintain current skills and knowledge of intravenous therapy, medication administration, patient assessment, airway maintenance, patient teaching, and emotional/social support.
  • Use nursing judgment in decision-making and act as a patient advocate.
  • Perform patient assessment and reassessment, documenting these assessments as a basis for planning each patient's care.
  • Communicate nursing interventions and patient responses to responsible practitioners and document nursing process according to standards of practice.
  • Integrate and coordinate care across settings and among disciplines.
  • Implement physician orders effectively and safely according to standards of practice.
  • Maintain or acquire skills on equipment necessary to complete required responsibilities.
  • Document all records according to established policies and procedures.
  • Assess information/documents on AdvantX and patient chart, maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Assist with reviewing and updating policies and procedures.
  • Perform effectively in stressful situations to fulfill position responsibilities.
  • Provide teaching to patient/parent of child per level of understanding.
  • Perform additional duties as needed by the department.
  • Actively participate in appropriate committee and CQI activities.
  • Inform clinical managers of applicable day-to-day situations.
  • May fill in for Pre-op / PACU / Clinical Manager if they are on leave.
  • May provide help to other Portland area USPI facilities if required.

Qualification Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (associates or bachelor's degree).
  • Ideal candidate will have a minimum of two (2) years total RN experience.
  • Current Oregon License as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current BLS & ACLS.
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to provide exceptional customer service to patients, physicians, and staff.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Prefer experience with medical software programs such as Advantx, Amkai, or Epic.
  • Full range of physical mobility (position requires sustained sitting, standing, stooping, lifting as much as 50 lbs., carrying, repetitive motions, reading, answering phones, etc.).
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to problem solve with minimal direction or guidance.
  • Consistent, reliable attendance.
  • Efficient use of resources.
  • Willingness to maintain a clean, organized environment.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Reliable means of transportation.
