About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Patient Access Specialist to join our team at Prisma Health. As a Patient Access Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring that patients receive the care they need in a timely and efficient manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interviews and Verifies Patient Information
    • Conduct thorough interviews with patients to collect and verify demographic and financial data
    • Verify insurance coverage and benefits using online eligibility or telephone inquiry
  • Processes Insurance and Payments
    • Assigns appropriate insurance plans from the third-party database
    • Ensures insurance priorities are correct based on third-party requirements
    • Initiates pre-certification process as required
  • Manages Patient Records and Communications
    • Enters accurate information into computer database
    • Scans documents according to departmental guidelines
    • Follows up for incomplete and missing information
  • Provides Excellent Customer Service
    • Communicates with patients regarding their estimated financial responsibility
    • Requests payment prior to or at the time of service

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of experience in Admissions, Billing, Collections, Insurance, and/or Customer Service
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of office equipment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Registration and scheduling experience
  • Familiarity with medical terminology

Work Environment

This is a non-management role that will report to a supervisor, manager, director, or executive.
