Veterinary Technician

Job Summary
As a Licensed Veterinary Technician at Animal Care Centers of NYC, you will play a critical role in providing medical and surgical care to animals in our shelter. You will be responsible for managing treatment plans, performing diagnostics, and administering medications. This is a challenging and rewarding position that requires strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist in the provision of medical and surgical care to animals in the shelter
• Manage treatment plans for hospitalized patients
• Perform diagnostics, including x-rays and in-house laboratory tests
• Administer medications via all routes
• Lead the surgery team
• Work well independently and as part of a team to ensure timely and quality medical care for all animals in the shelter

• Competitive hourly rate: $33.00 - $34.00/Hour based on experience

Qualifications
• Eligibility for and willingness to apply for euthanasia technician certification
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, able to multi-task and prioritize
• Dependable, reliable, and efficient
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and stand for prolonged periods of time
• Associates or bachelor's degree in veterinary technology, or foreign equivalent recognized by NYS
• Licensure in NYS to practice veterinary technology
• Previous experience working in shelters preferred but not required
