Packaging HMO 3rd Shift
The employee will manage materials, confectionery items, and product output. Responsibilities include setting up, changing over, and operating production lines, as well as supporting packaging staff. Key duties involve maintaining sanitation, ensuring quality, optimizing productivity, and adhering to safety protocols in their designated area.
Key Responsibilities
OPERATIONAL DUTIES:
Provide the packaging area with necessary supplies such as film, cardboard, and adhesive. Change film on production equipment as required and assist in maintaining operations on both sides of the production line. Ensure adequate adhesive levels in glue pots and support operations as needed.
Conduct usage tracking and corrections for all materials within the area, utilizing GLOBE/SAP systems.
Operate case erectors as necessary, handling corrugated materials.
Utilize case tapers to seal finished product cases and replace tape as required.
Manage shrink-wrap machinery by adjusting film and resolving any jams. Use lifts for film transportation and ensure all rolls are correctly positioned before concluding the shift.
Repack products flagged for quality issues.
Confirm that all materials required for production are available and request additional supplies as necessary.
Prepare machines for subsequent shifts and complete changeovers as needed, ensuring all materials are adequately covered.
Remove unnecessary items from the area and place them in the appropriate locations or request pick-up back to storage.
Complete downtime documentation and other relevant forms.
Empty and dispose of buckets, drums, and other receptacles properly, ensuring proper labeling for drained materials.
Facilitate communication with other shifts to address daily issues and relay pertinent information.Understand and operate scales for Work In Progress (WIP).
Monitor the quality of finished displays and shipping units for correct sealing, coding, shrink-wrapping, and proper orientation.
Utilize appropriate shipping materials for displays, applying necessary stamps, and ensuring correct orientation in cases. Additionally, demonstrate the ability to palletize and orient displays accurately, adhering to specified quantities per pallet.
Climb ladders as needed to access hoppers and resolve candy jams.
Maintain a clean workspace by following daily Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) checklists.
Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Employees are expected to comply with all GMP, quality, and food safety standards.
Employees must report any quality or food safety concerns to their supervisor or designated personnel.
SAFETY & ENVIRONMENTAL:Employees must adhere to Ferrara - Itasca's safety and environmental goals, comply with plant safety regulations, report incidents and unsafe conditions immediately, and follow the Safety & Environmental Management System(s) for all related procedures.
