Job Overview

Position: Clinical Psychologist

Department: Surgery

This role emphasizes a focus on Bariatric Surgery and Integrated Weight Management Programs, alongside Interventional Pain Medicine.

Qualifications Required:

Educational Background: Doctorate in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an accredited program recognized by the American Psychological Association (APA).

Internship Experience: Completion of an APA-approved internship or residency is essential.

Licensure: An active, unrestricted license to practice Clinical Psychology is mandatory, valid in any of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Professional Experience: A minimum of two years of experience as a Clinical Psychologist is required, with practice within the last two years.

Key Responsibilities:

Bariatric and Weight Management:

  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments for candidates considering bariatric surgery.
  • Evaluate psychological factors that may influence surgical outcomes, including but not limited to trauma, eating disorders, and suicidal ideation.
  • Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions for patients both pre- and post-surgery who present with psychiatric conditions such as anxiety and depression.
  • Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions for Active-Duty service members focusing on:
    • Weight management strategies
    • Behavioral motivation
    • Eating disorders
    • Body image and self-esteem issues
    • Support for relational stress and anxiety

Cancer Care: Deliver evidence-based psychotherapy and psychological assessments for patients dealing with cancer and related behavioral health challenges.

  • Diagnose and treat mental and emotional disorders, utilizing various psychological techniques.
  • Administer and interpret psychological tests to inform treatment plans.
  • Implement appropriate therapeutic approaches tailored to individual, group, and family needs.
Work Schedule:
  • 80 hours over a two-week period, with a flexible schedule.
  • Typical working hours are Monday through Friday, from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM, with shifts varying between 8 and 10 hours.
  • Work on weekends and outside standard clinic hours may be necessary based on operational requirements.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Sign-on bonus of $5,000
