Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to join our team at AdvantageCare Physicians. As a key member of our ambulatory care team, you will provide high-quality patient care and administrative support in a fast-paced medical office environment.

About the Role
  • Assist healthcare providers with clinical services and administrative tasks to support population health and best-in-class care.
  • Work under the supervision of a Practice Administrator and collaborate with Nurse Managers to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills, warm greetings, and friendly conversation with patients and guests.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Answer telephones professionally, utilize standard ACP greeting, and schedule patient appointments accurately.
  2. Verify insurance coverage, process forms, and perform complete registration of patient demographic and financial information.
  3. Check-out patients, thank them for their visit, and solicit feedback on quality of service.
  4. Take messages from individuals contacting the medical facility by telephone, deliver messages to intended recipients, and escalate calls according to ACPNY call escalation policy.
  5. Collect cash from patients, provide receipts, and reconcile end-of-day payments.
  6. Coordinate internal and external referrals, scheduling appointments, and providing reminders and directions to specialists' offices.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
  • Certificate of completion from an accredited Medical Assistant Program required or eligibility to sit for national certification exam within 18 months of hire.
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a medical assistant in an ambulatory care setting (R).
