Job Summary

As a key member of our Early Head Start program, you will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance to our teaching staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality early childhood education services to our young children and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Leadership: Provide supervision and guidance to teaching staff, ensuring the implementation of research-based early childhood curricula and developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Child Development: Ensure that children receive high-quality care and education, promoting their cognitive, social, and emotional growth and development.
  • Family Engagement: Foster strong relationships with families, providing two home visits and two education conferences per program term to support their involvement in their child's education.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development and coaching to enhance your skills and knowledge in early childhood education.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all program services are delivered in accordance with mandated Virginia licensing, subsidy, and Office of Head Start requirements.
Requirements
  • Education: A minimum of a Child Development Associate (CDA) or comparable credential with a focus on infant and toddler development. A Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related field is preferred.
  • Experience: Sufficient training, coursework, experience, and competency to be an infant and toddler Teacher. Demonstrated leadership skills in early childhood care and education.
  • Skills: Ability to operate in an organized, detail-oriented manner while maintaining flexibility. Ability to lead colleagues by example while working side-by-side and in partnership with colleagues.
