Responsibilities:


The Patient Care Coordinator is primarily accountable to the Director of ICU and indirectly to the Charge Nurse and/or House Supervisor.

This role involves supporting indirect patient care within the department. The Coordinator facilitates communication within the unit.

Responsibilities include transcribing physician orders from records (in the absence of CPOE and EMR clinical documentation system) with appropriate notation and signature by nursing staff.

The Coordinator prepares and maintains records for the ICU, orders necessary supplies for the unit, and ensures that each patient's chart is complete with all required forms on a daily basis. The Coordinator is also expected to assist nursing staff with tasks related to indirect patient care.

Qualifications:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent or relevant experience required for all new hires.
  • Current BLS (AHA) certification within 6 months of hire and maintain current status.
  • Basic dysrhythmia training upon hire is preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is preferred.
  • Experience with computers for word processing and database management is preferred.
