Job Summary
We are in search of a compassionate Certified Respiratory Care Specialist to become a vital part of our team. In this role, you will be tasked with delivering clinical patient services and support within your designated area. Compensation for this position varies based on experience.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

- Accepts on-call duties for phone consultations during off-hours as per Rotech's policy.
- Conducts patient evaluations in accordance with Rotech's protocols and physician directives.
- Maintains an up-to-date roster of all current respiratory patients.
- Keeps thorough documentation of all services rendered and tasks performed.
- Monitors the ongoing functionality of sophisticated respiratory equipment.
- Conducts patient assessments.
- Provides in-home visits to patients.
- Initiates and maintains ongoing communication with all respiratory patients via phone.
- Delivers patient education as necessary.
- Sets up all advanced respiratory equipment.
- Assists in the orientation and training of new personnel as directed by the Manager.
- In certain locations, RTs may be required to be on call and operate a company vehicle.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Travel
- Some travel by automobile is required to visit patients' homes and attend meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Employment is contingent on:
- Background investigation (company-wide).
- Drug screening (when applicable for the position).
- Valid driver's license in the state of residence with a clean driving record (when applicable for the position).
Required Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Credentials as a respiratory therapist, Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) are preferred, but other medical credentials may be acceptable (e.g., RN, LPN, LPV) depending on state licensure laws.
- Must be licensed in the primary state of residence as required by state law and provide a copy of the license to the location.
- May be required to obtain licensure in neighboring states as necessary based on the service area of the location.
Preferred Education and/or Experience:
- Completion of an accredited program/degree in respiratory care is preferred.
- Nursing or other paramedical training may be acceptable depending on state licensure laws.
- Experience in home respiratory care is preferred.
- A degree in respiratory therapy or a related field is preferred.
- One year of relevant work experience is preferred.
Skills and Competencies:
- Ability to accurately perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Proficient communication skills in English, both oral and written.
- Ability to interpret various forms of communication (verbal, non-verbal, written, listening, and visual).
- Maintain confidentiality, discretion, and caution when handling sensitive information.
- Ability to multi-task while paying attention to detail.
- Self-motivated, organized, with strong time-management and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Machines, Equipment, and Technical Abilities:
- Proficient in email communication.
- Skilled in internet navigation and research.
- Familiarity with Microsoft applications; Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Competent in using office equipment; fax machine, copier, printer, phone, and computer and/or tablet.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift and carry office equipment as needed.
- Requires close vision for reading small print on computer screens and paperwork.
- Requires interaction with patients and equipment with potential exposure to contagious pathogens.
- May require occasional lifting and transporting of patient equipment.
- Requires sitting, walking, standing, talking, and listening.
- Must comply with Rotech Respiratory Protection & N95 Mask Fit Testing Policy, including timely medical evaluation and fit testing compliance.
Annual recertification is required.
Must maintain a clean-shaven face to ensure proper N95 Mask face-seal protection as per OSHA guidelines.
