Job Summary

Central Arizona College, a diverse and innovative institution, is located in Pinal County, Arizona, a rapidly expanding business and residential community with a student population in excess of 12,000 on five major campuses and two centers. The college offers a unique opportunity for faculty to teach at multiple sites, via distance learning (ITV, online, etc.) and traditional classroom instruction, possibly evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Commercial Electrician Installer courses utilizing the NCCER Core Curriculum (CORE, Electrical Level I, & II), Electrical Trade, Safety, Electrical Circuits & Theory, the National Electrical Code, Device Boxes, Basic Electrical Construction Drawings, Test Equipment, Alternating Current, Motor Theory & Application, Lighting, Conduit Bending, etc. in addition to teaching OSHA 30, or the potential to become an "Authorized OSHA Outreach Instructor, in accordance with the college workload policy and in a variety of potential modalities (e.g., face-to-face, online, hybrid, Interactive Television (iTv), Weekend College, accelerated, evening or late start classes) on any campus, site or center as dictated by the needs of students.

The faculty member will also be responsible for:

  • Providing and presenting information, content, and context through lecture, laboratory, recitation, seminars and/or other learning venues utilizing a variety of teaching/learning styles as appropriate to the course content.
  • Employing a variety of assessment tools; evaluating grades and comments on student work in order to facilitate and ensure student progress throughout the course.
  • Establishing and maintaining office hours per college policy.
  • Maintaining records of student progress and performance; completing and returning required reports to the appropriate office by established due date.
  • Developing, preparing and evaluating instructional materials.
  • Reviewing and updating course outlines, text selection and syllabi in cooperation with other faculty and appropriate district academic chair or program director.
  • Proposing and developing new courses, curriculum, programs, instructional materials, and evaluation tools as necessary to meet the needs of the students and community.
  • Assisting in recruitment and retention of students through the development and implementation of teaching and learning strategies primarily in the instructional setting.
  • Cultivating development of instructional programs and knowledge of trends, pedagogy, andragogy, and new technologies.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Current industry certification and five years of occupational experience.
  • Associate's degree with more than 5 years of experience, and certified to teach/train OSHA10 and OSHA30 level classes.
  • The ability to collaborate with outside construction companies/agencies in an effort to enhance and grow the Industrial Carpentry program.
Salary and Benefits

The salary will be dependent upon educational level and qualifying experience. The teaching load is thirty–equated hours per academic year.

Copies of transcripts should reflect completed course work and conferred degrees. All academic course work and degrees must be from a regionally accredited college or university or be certified by an acceptable agency that the institution is recognized by the appropriate governmental agency in its home country.

Transcripts issued in a language other than English must be accompanied by a full translation (word for word) by an acceptable translator. Additionally, each foreign transcript must be evaluated for equivalency to United States accredited course work by an acceptable agency such as those agencies certified by the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES).

Background Verification: As a condition of employment, all candidates accepting an offer of employment for a full-time, part-time, temporary, student worker, or volunteer position, will be required to undergo a Background Verification. Employment with Central Arizona College is contingent upon the successful completion of the background verification. The level the background verification for this position is: Standard level.
