Responsibilities of Our Horticultural Care Technicians
Our Horticultural Care Technicians are responsible for visiting various client locations daily to provide expert care for plants through a series of trained tasks, including:
- Conducting routine maintenance on all designated plants - including watering, pruning, and fertilizing as necessary; trimming and clearing debris from planters; accurately gauging soil moisture with specialized tools.
- Utilizing trained techniques to deliver the appropriate amount of water based on lighting conditions and specific plant needs.
- Ensuring that both plants and display containers are kept clean and free from dust and debris.
- Monitoring plants for signs of disease and pest infestations.
- Maintaining the aesthetic appeal of top dressing and other decorative elements.
- Occasionally using ladders up to 6 feet to access and care for taller plants and living wall systems.
- Preventing damage to surrounding surfaces, including floors, walls, carpets, and furniture, from water or moisture.
- Driving a service vehicle in both urban and rural environments.
- Identifying and communicating additional product needs to support business growth.
- Assisting with various plantscape installations, including interior and exterior container gardens, wall-mounted systems, and commercial plantscapes.
- Participating in holiday decoration setups and takedowns for both interior and exterior spaces.
- Maintaining scenting and air purification systems as required.
Qualifications Required
- Strong communication and critical thinking skills.
- Preferred experience in plant care.
- Experience in client interaction.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Able to safely climb and work from ladders.
- Familiarity with using pruning tools and other sharp implements.
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check.
