Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer - Rotating Equipment Specialist

Woodfibre Management Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for the detailed design and execution of rotating equipment for our LNG project.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Formulate the engineering design definition with the EPC contractor and oversee the contractor's design performance.
  • Provide practical advice on design and execution planning.
  • Review and optimize the design of rotating equipment for modularization.
  • Review and comment on EPC engineering deliverables and vendor documents for machinery and packaged equipment.
  • Ensure rotating equipment is fit for purpose.
  • Participate in scheduled design reviews and review constructability, modularization, and execution planning.
  • Work with QA to support testing programs for rotating equipment and packaged equipment.
  • Review and comment on quantities, costs, and prices of equipment and works.
  • Validate performance of rotating equipment and packaged equipment during vendor performance tests.
  • Develop a proper preservation program for rotating equipment and packaged equipment.
  • Participate in commissioning and start-up planning and review commissioning deliverables.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 15+ years of major project experience in design and implementation within capital projects in the Oil & Gas and LNG industries.
  • Experience with rotating equipment in LNG plants, execution via EPC contractors, and commissioning and operations.
  • Strong technical competence in the specification of machinery/rotating equipment utilized in LNG plant design with expertise in modularized LNG plant equipment.
  • Team player with proven management and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop reports and presentations to management.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal/teambuilding skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Experience working with large multi-disciplinary teams and contractors in a multicultural environment.
  • Communication/interpersonal skills – interacting with front-line workers through to management and all hierarchical levels.
  • Ability to be innovative and vision-oriented with demonstrated ability to undertake strategic planning and implementation.

The position is based in the EPC contractor's office in the Energy Corridor of West Houston, TX, with travel to Vancouver, BC; to Squamish, BC (project site) and others, as required.
