Work ScheduleExpect to work 40+ hours weekly, with some on-call and weekend responsibilities.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs a Project Technician at Piedmont Service Group, your duties will include:
- Executing mechanical projects, which encompass the installation, replacement, upgrading, and maintenance of various commercial and industrial HVAC systems, components, and assemblies. This may involve hydronic systems, chilled water systems, DX, forced air, heat pumps, VAV, Constant Volume, Exhaust, Heat Recovery, Sheet Metal Ducting, and other related mechanical systems.
- Overseeing and/or contributing to the timely and budget-conscious completion of projects.
- Working independently or collaboratively as required, with potential responsibilities for guiding others.
- Maintaining tools, supplies, and equipment in good condition.
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting HVAC/R equipment effectively.
- Upholding high standards of mechanical installation practices.
- Conducting preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Adhering to all safety protocols and utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Following established project installation plans accurately.
- Keeping accurate records of work performed.
- Exhibiting flexibility to work extended hours, including early mornings and late nights.
Ideal candidates will possess:
- Effective communication skills with customers, vendors, and colleagues.
- A strong grasp of electrical schematics.
- Understanding of the refrigeration cycle.
- Basic knowledge of DDC controls.
- Proficiency in safely operating hand and power tools (e.g., soldering, brazing, and welding).
- The ability to work at heights, including ladders, elevated platforms, boom lifts, and scaffolding.
- The capability to lift up to 50 lbs to assist with loading, unloading, and storing materials and equipment, along with the physical ability to bend, climb, pull, push, balance, kneel, twist, stand, and navigate stairs and ladders.
- Successful completion of a background check and drug test upon receiving a conditional job offer.
Applicants should have:
- A minimum of five years of experience in commercial service or installation.
- A high school diploma or GED.
- A valid driver's license.
- CFC Universal Refrigerant Certification.
- Certifications in forklift operation, boom lift (JLG), first aid, and CPR are advantageous.
