Gresham Smith is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Industrial team. As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for industrial facilities.

Responsibilities:
  • Determine scope, budget, and schedule for electrical design projects
  • Perform electrical design and assign tasks to team members
  • Plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate electrical engineering work
  • Prepare engineering reports, plans, and specifications for various projects
  • Review plans and technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates
  • Participate in contract bidding and administration
  • Support and observe the design and ongoing progress of projects
  • Communicate and interact with project team members, client representatives, review agencies, and others as necessary
  • Provide leadership and assign electrical design job functions to designated engineers and designers
  • Collaborate in solving complex engineering problems
  • Design electrical components and systems for industrial facilities
  • Research codes and apply knowledge of code requirements and standards to designs
  • Determine, analyze, and interpret clients' needs and requirements
  • Identify all project inputs needed to proceed efficiently on assigned tasks
  • Produce contract documents, including drawings and specifications
  • Review designs, proposals, shop drawings, and contractor comments for sound electrical engineering practice
  • Perform calculations and complete layouts and arrangements
  • Prepare project cost and schedule estimates
  • Visit construction sites to observe existing conditions and identify solutions to problems
  • Conduct inspections for quality control and assurance programs
  • Provide technical assistance when problems arise during construction
  • Collaborate with others to identify, define, and solve design issues
  • Review preliminary and final electrical design with other disciplines
  • Check shop drawings for compliance with design documents
  • Coordinate with other disciplines and answer RFIs from contractors
  • Perform construction inspections and develop final punch lists
  • Write commissioning procedures
  • Assist in starting up and commissioning of communication, security, instrumentation, and controls projects
Requirements:
  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in electrical design for manufacturing and industrial clients
  • P.E. license with education experience necessary to obtain licensure in other states by reciprocity
  • Knowledge of large power transformers, power generation, transmission, operation, and maintenance of power system distribution systems
  • Experience in electrical design for facility and infrastructure projects
  • Strong working knowledge of national safety electrical codes and standards
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong team player with effective communication skills
  • Previous design and detailing experience using REVIT and AutoCAD
  • Experience with lighting calculation software and power system analysis software
  • LEED accreditation is preferred
  • Valid Driver License is required to travel to job sites
Desirable Skills:
  • Digitally curious and comfortable working with coding and automation
  • Design automation skills, including parametric design tools
  • Software coding skills, especially with Python and C#
  • Working with Revit's API
  • Power BI for data visualization
